| Formed
in 1918, WIRA has been at the
forefront of research and
development in the wool industry. In
1988, WIRA merged with other bodies
to become the British Textile
Technology Group (BTTG). WIRA
Instrumentation became independent
in 1995, paving the way for even
greater international co-operation
with leading companies and
organisations. Wira Instrumentation
is part of the Garnett
Group of Associated
Companies, "A Whole World of
Innovative Technology"
Wira
Instrumentation has long been
associated with Wool testing
instruments. With a strong
reputation for quality, reliability
and service, the Wool Industry has
used Wira Instruments as standard
test methods for many decades.
But
don't get hung-up on Wool! A number
of the products available from Wira
are applicable to other areas,
particularly synthetics and cotton.
Though Wira Instrumentation has it's
roots in the Wool Industry where it
still remains active, the majority
of our business is not in wool.
Many of the
products are used by synthetic
processors and the WIRA Cotton Fibre
Fineness and Maturity Meter is
becoming increasingly popular with
cotton processors. In fact 85% of
the items in the WIRA Directory have
applications outside Wool.
